One Dance UK and BBC Arts' Dance Passion to return in 2022

One Dance UK and BBC Arts have announced that Dance Passion will return in early 2022 as part of the BBC’s Dance Season, shining a light on the UK’s world-class dance sector in all its forms.

Dance Passion’s mission is to celebrate the UK dance sector – its creativity, world-class talents, and innovative approach hosted on a variety of platforms such as BBC iPlayer. As part of this celebration, BBC Arts and One Dance UK have announced an open call, and are inviting dance companies, independent artists, choreographers, and associated technical partners to apply for funding to create five short-form films and five interactive projects, which will both delight dance lovers and bring new audiences to the art form.

This national celebration of dance will showcase the cutting-edge creativity, artistry, and talent that makes the dance sector so vibrant and essential. Following the success of Dance Passion 2019, and after the most difficult year for arts organisations and performers alike, it is hugely positive to see the return of the Dance Season to the BBC. This is particularly with initiatives that highlight its ongoing commitment to nurturing young talents, and attracting creative ideas from every corner of the dance scene in the UK.

The opportunities for funding are open to dance companies, independent artists, dancers and choreographers based in the UK from both the professional and non-professional sectors, along with those based in dance education and dance medicine/science.

Dance Passion is a collaboration between BBC Arts and One Dance UK and is supported by funding from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants programme. Applications for the Open Call are opening soon, and full details on how to apply can be found on One Dance UK's website.
