A very busy week.
It’s hard to believe that this time last week Ami, Kate, Paula and I were at the IDTA Congress in Southport. We had a really busy few days catching up with customers and friends from the North West. This was great fun for me as my dance school was located not far from Southport so I saw many people who I had known during the early years of my school. This included Harriet Croft and Norah Button. Norah turned up carrying the Olympic Torch which she had proudly carried through Liverpool! See photo below.
We had collected names over the weekend to win a free place at our International Dance Teachers Conference. Here is a picture of our absolutely delighted winner receiving her certificate. The winners name had been drawn out of a hat by IDTA examiner Allie Coyne.
The next event was the first night of the Royal Ballet School performance which took place at the Linbury at The Royal Opera House last Wednesday. Students from both lower and upper schools took part and the standard was amazing. It is hard to believe that most of these lovely dancers are still only students! I was thrilled to be able to watch Pacquita as IDS sponsor the staging of this Heritage Ballet and one of the Pas de Trois was danced by Evie Ball who is an ex pupil of one of MY ex students! Picture of Pacquita to follow!
Next up was lunch with Wayne Sleep in order for us to finalise details for his participation in the Conference and then Ami joined me in London for a lovely evening to celebrate the retirement of Sean Williams from the CDET. He has contributed so much to so many during his time there and will be greatly missed.
And finally, today, Ami and I have been back in London to tie up loose end for the Conference. It promises to be a really exciting few days so if you have not already booked, do it today before you miss out! Here is Ami outside the Royal Opera House next to a poster of fellow west country dancer Lauren Cuthbertson.
