Since the company was founded over 30 years ago, we have grown into the UK’s largest supplier of dancewear, and more recently launched a catalogue and website for the US market.

Rosie Symonds (BA Hons in Photography) - July to December 2010

After looking through many graduate placements I saw a position I could picture myself in at IDS. Not only was it paid experience it also gave me the chance to have one day a fortnight learning business skills. I have learnt a great deal, from project management to accounting and enjoyed every minute.

I was originally hired to create an image library for the 20,000 plus unorganised images. It took several months to achieve any order and the correct renaming of files was an ongoing task throughout! In August I started editing images to go online (with a very beautiful new MAC!) and I hadn’t ever considered how much I enjoy using Photoshop. Before this placement I had no idea what career path I wanted to follow and now I’m certain I want to be an Image Retoucher.

Being at IDS has not only given me valuable work experience but also the confidence to aim higher. One of the biggest reasons I have enjoyed working at IDS is because I have felt truly valued. I have been thanked for doing the work I was hired to do and I feel very lucky to have been placed within such a considerate company. The passion here from the team is contagious.
